Our Story
We wanted to feed our kids good food. What parent doesn’t? Not just good tasting, but healthy and nourishing. Tasting good is important, too. When we started to learn what was in conventional grocery store beef, and how the cattle are raised, we knew we could never go back. The only way we could know for sure what we were feeding our kids was to raise it ourselves. So we went in together with our friends and bought a cow. It ate grass. The beef that fall was delicious. The next year we raised two. Then 4 the following year, to share with family and friends. We realized there’s a lot of people nearby who want access to good food. Good, clean, healthy food.
While we were providing for our own kids, we became aware of other kids far away that needed help. Our partners in India ran an orphanage that needed a building for the 67 kids they care for. We wanted to help them all . . .
So in 2019, we launched HolyCow, a beautiful ironic blend of meeting needs locally and abroad. Raising cows for beef, selling locally, and donating ALL the proceeds to help kids in India. In our first year, we raised ½ the cost of a new orphanage. Doing good abroad. HolyCow beef was donated to a food bank here in Sisters, doing good locally. And many families are eating good beef--really good beef they can trust.
